hello folks had a very good meal saturday 11th october at san carlos,the boss is a very welcoming person and the food is great and well priced…sirloin steak coojked perfectly //thank you joe.

, the food was brilliant,
service was brilliant,
The prices too were good,
we had a great laugh too, you wouldn’t think you where in the middle of Whitley Bay.
I will definitely be back to San Carlos

Went to san carlos last sat was brilliant very authentic italian feel to the place with all the waiters speaking italian, food was outstanding prices were spot on too, will be going back very soon.

I love San Carlos, def the best Italian around here. The food is lovely and affordable, the service is fab, staff are mostly Italian and are so friendly. They all love kids so very child friendly place to go.
The atmosphere is great and the decor is superb. They have candles on all the tables and a real coal fire too. It really is fantastic. Happy hour is brill. Just £3.95 for an adult and kids eat free.

took the kids 1 night not go 2 to 3 times a week, food is superb so cheap and you have a good laugh with all the staff

Wont be going back, had to pay for a bottle of wine which was clearly corked. half of us ate our meal whilst the other had to wait for there steak to be cooked properly… by the time it came the other half were finished. DISASTER!!!! Not recommended….

Great place to eat, staff always friendly, good with kids, and food excellent value for price. Whether you’re going with work colleagues, friends, family, kids or just night out for two, we’ve never been dissappointed yet. You’re always looked after, without being fussed over.

absloutely fantastic went there tonight with all our staff and had a really special night, the food was great and the staff were amazing, Jonny, Fabio, Franco and Carlos made us laugh all night, they are the best!!!! even the more snooty one’s amougst our party enjoyed themselves and they alwayscoplain every year no matter what, this year though it was unanamous, we will definatelybe back! Just got in from the restaurant now and just felt compelled to write this, it really is tht good!

26 girls had a fantastic night out here on Friday 5th February. We were made very welcome. The staff were great. The food was great. Prices very good that includes drink prices. We will be back. and everyone said they will recommend San Carlos as the place to go. 10 out of 10. Thanks Fabio and Jhonathon.

san carlos is just the best italian eatery in the north east, simple as that.
the food is superb and authentic, the service is second to none, the prices more than reasonable and the atmosphere really italian. no better place in the north east and i have live in italy!

Went to this restaurant with mixed feelings bearing in mind its location, but we were not disappointed.
The food was fantastic, fresh and really well priced. The staff are the main attraction though being very attentive but not in your face, they were polite and couldn`t have been more helpful. My son on leaving was struggling to fasten a shoe lace and one of the waiters stopped and asked if he could do it for him!!
It is so hard to find good service but the staff here have it down to a tee!
It cost £40 for a family of 5 to have a main meal, drinks and a side order. It was great value for money.
We will be back!

Hi went to San Carlo’s for the first time last night (Thursday). It was packed and the atmosphere was electric.
We did book beforehand. I’d recommend that by the volume of people in at 7:30.
The food was the best I’ve had in Whitley Bay for a long time. I had the King Prawn starters (with garlic) and they were delicious, I couldn’t get over how large they were.
. Then I had the steak with blue cheese sauce…It was to die for. The presentation was lovely.
The helpings were generous size and the waiters were helpful but not standing over you.
would recommend to friends and family and will be going there again soon.
Prices were good and it seemed a child friendly restaurant.

I went for a meal at San Carlo’s last night with the girls from work, the food was beautiful but the service was not. There were three staff working in the dining area but there may as well have just been one. The young dark haired gentleman was flying around while the bald gentleman seemed to be more interested in talking to his friend at the bar, flirting with the girl working behind the bar, or on his phone. He then sat down with the people on the table next to ours. The girl did little to help, only doing so when told to by the dark haired gentleman. I have never seen so much time taken polishing a glass. I counted thirty-three diners at this point. As a former restaurant owner i found this difficult to watch and felt sympathy for the lovely man who was working so hard. We did all enjoy the food, we just hope that next time we visit San Carlo’s the service is as good as everybody keeps telling me.

We always used to be regulars, but I will NEVER go back to San Carlo’s again.
As with other reviewers, the problem was with the attitude of the staff, and in particular when it comes to drinks. The food may be great, but when they expect you to drink something you never even ordered, and then take offence when you point out the problem, it’s time to try out some of the other excellent Italian restaurants in Whitley Bay.
Adding insult to injury, we complained in writing to the owner, who couldn’t even be bothered to do us the courtesy of a reply. Maybe they’re making so much money that they don’t have to worry about customer service and reputation?

Was at San Carlo’s tonight – loved it. Food spot on, service spot on, and price reasonable. Will definitely go again.

Used to go all the time to San Carlos with friends and our kids, it has really changed! The service was a joke and the on draft peroni tasted very ‘different’ to usual, dont like being conned! Won’t return.

Visited on Saturday 5 March 2011. Meal very nice however the portion of vegetables you got with a steak was absolutely disgusting! Come on San Carlos you can do better than this on past visits there has been a more than generous helping.
I had a fish dish and at £16.95 was very nice indeed but overpriced for what you got!

i have been 2 san carlos on numerous occasions and the food has always been delicious the restaurant is a very relaxing environment and its ideal for special occasions i have always been very pleased with the service the staff are very friendly i would highly recommend it to people who enjoy good food and drink that is very good value for money.

After reading such rave reviews about this restaurant my friend and I decided to try it out, and I must say we were thoroughly disappointed. Firstly we ordered a bottle of white wine and the waiter served us red wine, when we pointed out the mistake he took the huff with us.
I ordered Leek & Potato soup, and the chef mustn’t have washed the leeks as it was very gritty. My friends potato skins were hard. Then we ordered seabass for the main course, I took my first mouthful and it was full of bones, I tried again and the second mouthful was also full of bones! To be honest I dont even think it WAS seabass. The vegetables it was served with were charred beyond recognition too. Overall, a really disappointing experience I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody and definitely won’t be returning, sorry.

Loved this restaurant! Waiter was very attentive and very funny. Very cheap. We both had pizzas which were delicious and would defiantly be returning. Would recommend for a nice pizza!

Had a fantastic evening, celebrating our Ruby anniversary, the food was cooked to perfection,steaks just melted in the mouth. The staff were very welcoming, and so friendly, would recommend to everyone, we live in Halifax, West Yorkshire,but would definately travel all the way up to have another great evening…….

Celebrated our Ruby anniversary and had a fantastic night, the steks just melted in your mouth. The atmoshere was great, this was down to the staff whome you could not fault in any way. Would definately recomend to everyone, and even though we live in Halifax West Yorkshire will be returning for another great night. Thanks to all staff……..
