Ordered a collection. I wish their food had been good as their service. Alas, no. Their Chicken Korma had a delicious sauce but the chicken tasted bland. Was probably cooked separately and then added to sauce.

One of the best indians I have had. Me and my boyfriend went here for my birthday celebration, excellent quick service but not too fast so you rushed in and out, friendly welcoming staff, delicious food and very good portion sizes. Also when we told them it was my birthday a free ice cream and flare were brought out which i thought was an excellent finish for the night. overall 5/5 from me.

We have been going to the Kismet for a couple of years now but the past year has been terrible service, if you book a table for 8pm, don’t expect to it down until 9pm…if you’re lucky. Take aways are the same, we have waited for about an hour at one point, after saying it would be ready for 8pm, we waited for an hour!! Last night we booked a table for 8.30pm, they said 8.45pm…at 9.15 we were still standing at the bar and hadn’t even been asked if we wanted a drink.
If you vale your time, don’t go, the service is terrible, Elachi is much better for a take away and Siam Bay is much better in terms of sit down service and feeling like a valued customer!!

I would never go back to this restaurant. Me and my family have been using this restaurant for 2 years now. We booked a table for 4 on Christamas eve (2009) for 7pm. We didn’t get a table until just before 9pm. After getting the table we had to wait another 30 mins before drinks. Food came late and you could tell it was probably sitting in the hot plate for ages everything seemed so blank. The service was dire and the attitude of the waiters was that you eat up and make space for the next lot. Never again… If you want a nice take away I would recommend the Ellachi round the corner or for restaurant the Ahar on Park View

I am a regular in the Kismet tandoori and its by far the best Indian in whitley Bay by a country Mile.
The Specialities are unique and you must try the Punjabi Style Dishes as they are an ambundance of flavours.
Ignore the negetative service issues this restaurant is great providing your patient and always book a table or do what i do mostly get a takeaway.Azz and Sham do a cracking evening.WELL WORTHWHILE spoken from a CHEF!!!!!!!!

We’ve been going to the Kismet for years and we’ve always had a great meal. The food is excellent, however I have to agree with many of the coments regards the wait. The restaurant is just too small for its own good. We only go when there’s just me & the wife as, even if you book, you are stuck at the tiny bar along with all the other people who are waiting for takeaway etc. I’ve waited over an hour before and had to go elsewhere. Come on Azz, INVEST in your business, expand upstairs and you’ll keep all your loyal customers happy. The Romna is just over the road and the food is just as good.

as a much travelled couple, from Hawaii to Bejing, we have never enjoyed Indian quisine ,as much as we have at the Kismet, and my friends & family agree .Azz IS investing in his buisiness, He is in the process of trying to aquire bigger premises, and when he does, we are sure he will go from strenth to strengh. We shall be backing him all the way.
Did somebady mention the romna?…………….please

Best Indian restaurant in the North East. Never had a problem with service either, staff are friendly and welcoming. Superb curries. Just wish they delivered.

Food is of the highest standard. Yes, weekends the waiting times can be excessive. But, doesn’t that tell its own story?
I think folk finishing their meal should vacate if their are folk waiting instead of drinking at their table. Perhaps the staff should be more assertive on matters when folk are waiting for a table. A few signs up around the place stating ‘glad of custom but if folk are waiting can tables be vacated’ It’ll make the staff’s life easier.
I always wait patiently because its always worth it – and yes, I vacate if folk are waiting.

Great value quality food, cheap set menu with plenty of choices. Swift service I will certainly be going back on a regular basis.
