So disappointing. Was looking forward to there normally good fish and chips, especially since they have had the big refurbishment. What a let down. The stingiest portions I have ever seen for the most amount of money I have paid for fish and chips. Very disappointing

Agree with 1 above, food is nice but portions are tiny.
Gotta find some way of paying for the refurb I suppose!

Tiny portions and need a bank loan to feed a family of 4 fish and chips!

On our recent visit to Whitley Bay we wanted to try the fish & chips, our choice of fish & chip shop was influenced by the banner outside the shop/restaurant stating they were the winners of the National Fish & Chip shop award for 2011. We were however extremely disapointed the only thing enjoyable on the plate were the mushy peas. The fish & chips were grease laden and the grease was obvious when you cut into the fish and left a claggy greasy coating in the mouth. The fish was very thin and more batter than fish.

My wife and I have eaten in your restaurant two or three times a month for some years now, with not one complaint whatsoever, but today. we sat down at a table which was dirty and covered in debris and old food, then after waiting some considerable time, during which time my wife cleaned the table herself, when the tea arrived it was tepid. When the food arrived we requested a fresh pot of tea for that reason, and when the fish and chips arrived (OAP specials), my fish was a very thin sliver of cod covered in a large amount of batter. After such splendid service and food over the years, we were just very disappointed, and wondered if there was some problem we were unaware of today. Your comments would be appreciated.

Popped into the Whitley Lodge Pantrini’s today (Wednesday) for the first time, as we really fancied fish and chips after a hard day’s dog walking and just happened to be in the area. Really impressed! Absolutely delicious food – nicest chips I’ve ever tasted! Mum usually just picks at her chips, but she polished off the lot! No horrible greasy after-taste like many chippies give you either. Also, staff were incredibly friendly and efficient – good old fashioned customer service is so hard to come by these days, so it was very refreshing! Will definitely be back for more.

used to be really good back in the day. Now its really bad dead expensive small portions and just doesnt taste the same as it used to. your better off walking 5 mins up the road and going to the 45/arcade chippy in the backlane huge portions cheap staff dead canny also do really good specials aswell 99p for chips and a fishcake or 150 for sausage chips and beans.

Came to Pantrinis yesterday for the first time and all I can say is the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, great value for money and totally met my expectations. Will definitely be going back there much better than some of the other fish and chip shops in Whitley bay!

Food – not bad.
Staff – a little rough and loud.
Cafe – very, very cold.
