The other Chinese takeaways we tried were closed for one reason or another (pro tip: opening your takeaway at 6pm is not good for business!) and we ended up here. Glad we did though as the place was clean, the service quick and the food was pretty good. We had Special Fried Rice (needed more sauce but OK apart from that), Chicken Curry (very good, not too salty) and a few starters. Chips were excellent for a Chinese. ****

Horrendous service. Was promised food within an hour and it came after more than 2hours. When we rang up the staff were snotty. Food was greasy and soggy. It was not worth the money or the massive wait!!

Before going out on a Saturday, we thought we’d try somewhere new for a takeaway – cue Sea Palace, Whitley Bay.

When we ordered we were told it would be delivered in 50 mins to an hour – which was okay. An hour and a half later we rang to see where it was to be told it wouldn’t be ready for another 30 minutes, and there was nothing they could do to speed it up. They had taken our phone number when we placed the order, so why they couldn’t have rang us as a courtesy to say it would be late, I don’t know… customers clearly aren’t a priority.

So half an hour after that (2 hours after we ordered we rang back to hear the same story – it will be 30 minutes. WHAT?? AGAIN?? So lying is part of the service, lovely. Pleased we ordered from here….

Eventually, nearly 2.5 hours after we ordered) the order turned up. Unfortunately, we were leaving to go out, so wouldn’t have time to eat it. I told the delivery guy this, and said that the food really wasn’t any use to us now. I offered to pay 50% of the bill, but he declined and drove off with the food. 50% would have covered all the basic costs plus his fuel, and would mean we’d have something to reheat when we got back 6hours later. Lord knows what he intended to do with our late order – hopefully not reheat it and try to deliver it to someone else.

Frustrating, unhelpful and poor customer service. Will not be using here again. The food might be okay, but I’ll not be reviewing it!!!

By far the worst Chinese take away ever! !

We normally order regularly from another take away but after a menu from the sea palace was posted through the door and it looked and read well we decided to place an order … Big mistake !

I placed the order and was advised the cost would be £32 pounds so crertainly not cheap so thought it would be top notch ! When the food arrived we had ordered the mixed platter starter which looked like someone had tried some begore it got to us the starter was £8 and had 3 cold chicken wings , 2 burnt ribs 3 soggy pieces of prawn toast and was missing the chilli dip! We ordered 3dishes all different and did not include chips or rice do had to order in addition! 2 of the dishes tasted the same as each other I actually thought they had just the same meal in each container and the udan noodle dish consisted of some large soggy noodles and could have been mistaken for a vegaterian dish for the lack of beef it contained!

We were very disappointed And thought we would not order from sea palace again and as this was 9pm on Saturday night 25th August 2012 there was not much I could do. After spending the following day annoyed that the meal was so bad I decided to call and speak to the manager second mistake ! ! I was advised that the manager was not available I advised that I would accept a call back but was then advised that he did not speak English and so could not call me back ! I was offered no real apology or any kind of refund I was told that someone would call me back ….. That was nearly 18 hours ago and i am still waiting ! !

If you are looking for a quality Chinese meal i would advise not to go to the sea palace ! !
