The Cottage Kitchen is a great place to dine. It is a cafe during the day serving brilliant breakfasts and traditional meals like mince and dumplings and all the roasts on Sundays.
In the evening, it becomes an excellent restaurant. We were there on the 6th March and had the most fabulous meal. Prices are really good value, with a good selection of dishes to choose from including pizza, pasta, chicken, fish and steak dishes.
We also tried the house white wine and were really surprised at the quality. Most places it can be a bit rough, but it was really nice and good value at £10 per bottle.
I would recommend the Cottage Kitchen to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been going to the Cottage Kitchen for years, and it does the best breakfasts around. Love the sausage sandwich. The chef always uses the best ingredients, and you always get a lovely welcome. As well as being a Cafe by day, last night the Cottage Kitchen, launched its Restaurant by Night. I had prawn cocktail to start – it was lovely. Then chicken caccitore – it was delicious – no skimping on the sauce, and loved the way the vegetables had been baked. Could not resist a pudding, a home made lemon cheesecake, my husband had the chocolate torte, and I wished I had had that, because it was even better than my lemon cheesecake. The house wine was very reasonable £10.95, and tasted excellent. 10 out of 10. The happy hour is 5 till 7 and any chicken dish or pizza is £4. Excellent value, excellent food and very friendly staff, and loved the atmosphere.

Whitley Bay is a lucky town to have a gem like the Cottage Kitchen. It’s Sunday Dinners are unbeatable – a plate of roast meat of your choice, beautifully cooked veg, perfect Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, all for £6.
We eat there regularly and every time I come away feeling well-fed and content. The service is friendly and efficient, all the food is fresh and beautifully cooked and their wines are good quality and well-priced.
It’s open in the evenings now, which is great news. It’s the sort of place that’s so good you’re tempted to keep it to yourself – but that would be selfish!

I am delighted that the Cottage Kitchen is now open in the evenings . We have been going there for five years and the food is unbeatable – the staff are very welcoming and efficient and there is always a great atmosphere. We are so lucky to have a restaurant like this on our doorstep!

The Cottage Kitchen pulls off a difficult trick fantastically well of moving from great ‘breakfast place’ to good day time food and cafe feel, and now evening dining.

I get out an about in Edinburgh and London and the meal I had last night, on a table for three, a perfect fillet steak was as good as any I have had in those cities but at around one third of the price. The evening menu has pizzas, pastas and the like so there is something for everyone an dthe happy hour makes it good for families

Sunday dinners are exactly what you imagine the perfect sunday dinner to be and with House Wines not much more than supermarket prices I just don’t know how they do it.

Low prices and Big City restaurant standards of food in a true neighbourhood restaurant like Milan and Madrid? If there were a couple more stars I would ckick those too.

This is a brilliant place to eat; the food is excellent and the staff are great; we refuse to eat at any other restaurant. Give it a try as I guarantee you will love it.

Been going to this cafe for years for breakfast, although its been through a few owners its always been quality food at a good price. The new owners have turned it into a resturaunt at night which am not sure about, however good luck to them for trying the new idea.
If you want a good hangover cure(breakfast) get to the cafe pronto its the only way forward.
Took the wife here last week for the first time and she wants to come back again. They do take out breakfast to, so if your in a rush ring them up and then go and get it.
Well done CK keep it up.!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cottage Kitchen is truly a little gem in Whitley Bay. The food is top quality and very, very tasty. I crave the Roast beef dinners and cross my fingers that the chef has made his chocolate torte. I highly recommend this place. I must also add that the service is very friendly and attentive. Thumbs up and well done to everyone at Cottage Kitchen!

Weve been going to the cottage kitchen for years during the day – lovely food home cooked quality & such reasonable prices.
Tonight we decided to take the two teenagers to try the evening menu
What a joy
4 starters. Soup, garlic mushrooms, goats cheese bruschetta
4 mains – pizza, liver & bacon, lasagne & my delicious mussels in spicy bloody Mary sauce
4 soft drinks
Absolutely delicious. Top notch quality
Lovely atmosphere – great staff
This is going to be a regular treat.
Cost less than our usual Indian take away night & so much better

  • Steven: Staff disruptive and loud shouting and being abusive towards eachother noise levels too high will not be returning this is a disgrace
  • Sophie: Manager came into the shop and was being very distresfectful whilst customers were in the shop, we couldnt enjoy are meal with the level of noise and
  • Richard: Very disappointing, except for the boiled rice and spare ribs. In particular batter too thick, duck not crispy, and I have never had "spam" in Singa
